LNG

Apiel has been involved, since early 90’s, in LNG business and more particularly in plants and machinery for assembling and filling modular plywood boxes for LNG carriers’ hull insulation. These vessels, designed by GTT, take advantage of membrane containment system in order to transport cryogenically about 150.000 cubical meters of liquid natural gas. Gas is liquefied and kept to a temperature of about –160°C in order to reduce its volume to about 1/600 and to carry it at an environmental atmosphere.
Anyway, in order to keep this low temperature, a dual layer of insulation boxes is applied to the internal hull of the ship. These boxes are made by modular plywood panels and are internally filled with expanded perlite, compacted by mean of filling-vibrating machines.

Apiel can provide a complete LNG carrier insulation boxes production line in order to assembly, staple, calibrate and fill these insulation boxes for LNG ships.

Apiel’s experience and high specialization in different kinds of automation and process control, allows to design and discuss with our customers the proper solution according to their requirements. Our plants and machinery has been successfully approved by GTT, ship owners and classification societies.
